I want to know...
What is focaccia? How do I reheat it?
Focaccia (pronounced foh-KAH-chyuh) is an oven-baked Italian bread famous for its crispy exterior, pillowy soft interior, and generous coating of olive oil. It is characterized by its dimpled surface and versatility, often used as table bread, a side dish, or sliced for sandwiches.
Focaccia is made with basic ingredients: bread flour, water, salt, yeast, and extra virgin olive oil. It usually features a high hydration ratio, which creates its signature hole-y, airy crumb.
Before baking, the dough is generously drizzled with olive oil, and the baker presses their fingertips into the dough to create signature dimples. These indentations allow the oil and herbs to pool, giving the bread its rich flavor and crispy, golden crust.
To reheat: Place in the center of the rack in a 350 degree oven for 8 or so minutes. This gives the bottom of the bread enough time to crisp up.
To eat: There are so many ways to eat focaccia! Did you get a sweet version? Save it for breakfast (or dessert) and reheat it so that cinnamon or raspberry gets all melty and yummy! Did you get a savory version? Cut the loaf in half to make sandwiches! Or dip it in olive oil on spaghetti night. The possibilities are endless!
You're a pop-up book shop. What does that mean?
Great question! It means that I do not have a physical store - mobile or brick & mortar. Yet. Thyme & Tome will be appearing as a vendor at various events in Crestview (and possibly surrounding areas) throughout 2026. Keep your fingers crossed for us, though! Our goal is to go mobile by the summer.
What are your hours of operation?
We are open for physical shopping during vendor markets, at least once a month beginning in late January. You can find the schedule of events in the 'Events' tab in the main menu. From home, hours vary. We homeschool our kids, so we will be working around their schedules.
In general, our hours are:
Sunday - Closed
Monday - 4pm-7pm
Tuesday - 4pm-7pm
Wednesday - 4pm-7pm
Thursday - 4pm-7pm
Friday - 4pm-8pm
Saturday - 12pm-8pm
*Hours of operation are subject to change without notice. This includes if we "close" for family outings or field trips with our homeschool group.
**These are not the mobile store hours. We will have those hours before our soft opening!
Can I order online?
Absolutely! You can browse and order from my current in-stock selection of books online. Shipping, local delivery, and pick-up options are available.
How much is shipping, delivery, and pick-up?
We ship Media Mail domestically. If you want you want faster delivery, other options are available. Media Mail begins at $6. For orders over $100, shipping is free.
Delivery is available within Crestview for $5. I will text you at the provided phone number for delivery date and time. If no one answers the door, I will leave your order on the porch. A photo will be sent with delivery confirmation. Thyme & Tome Book Shoppe is not liable for lost or stolen orders.
Pick-up is free! Meeting place is the Crestview Library. I will text you at the provided phone number and we will discuss pick-up dates and time.
How are you able to compete with big bookstores?
I don't see it as competition with big bookstores. Being a small, local independent bookstore speaks volumes for itself. By shopping small, you are helping local families, local jobs, local economies, and your dollars stay close to home.
All books (except pre-loved) are brand new. I purchased my initial stock through a book wholesaler. You may notice a colored dot on the edge of your books. This just lets publishers know that they cannot be returned for profit. This also means I get to pass along the savings to you!
Beginning in 2026, this section in-person and on our website will be labeled 'Bargain Books.'
Which genres will you keep in stock?
Ideally, I would like to keep a healthy stock of the most popular genres: romance (dark, fantasy, contemporary, historical, etc), horror/thriller, fantasy, sci fi, and young adult.
How does pre-ordering goodies work?
All consumable goods are produced in a cottage food operation that is not subject to Florida's food regulation laws.
Pre-ordering is available here.
Will you have a farm/book stand?
I would love to - eventually! Maybe by the summer.
